Dr. David D. Lee, former Arlington Free Clinic board chair and long-time volunteer anesthesiologist, was recently selected for induction into the Wakefield High School Hall of Fame.

David’s family grew up in South Arlington and he is a proud graduate of Wakefield High.  Like the patients of Arlington Free Clinic, David’s own parents needed to be healthy so they could go to work and take care of their family. There was no Arlington Free Clinic when David graduated from Wakefield in 1977.  But when the Clinic was founded in 1994, David was a well-regarded anesthesiologist at Virginia Hospital Center and he was more than ready to give back to the community.  David stepped up to be one of the Clinic’s first volunteer specialty physicians.

Throughout AFC’s almost 20 years for service to the community, David has been an essential part of the comprehensive care we provide our patients.  Over the years, David’s medical practice, Dominion Anesthesia, has provided pro bono aesthesia services for hundreds of AFC patients who require surgery—often for life-saving procedures like cancer.

If AFC had a Hall of Fame, David would have been inducted years ago; David will be inducted into Wakefield’s Hall of Fame on May 17, 2013 during a special assembly dedicated to the inductees.
