For thirty years, Arlington Free Clinic (AFC), a community-based, volunteer-driven nonprofit, has provided free, high-quality healthcare to Arlington County adults impacted by significant inequities in accessing and achieving optimal health outcomes. With the help of roughly 350 volunteers and 43 full/part-time staff, AFC provides access to comprehensive, patient-centered services including women’s healthcare, primary/specialty medical care, behavioral health services, dental care, physical therapy, vaccines, and referrals to non-medical safety-net services (the social determinants of health) such as food, housing, and transportation, which are essential to overall health and well-being.
